Finally- a headphone design so comfy you’ll barely feel them! The REM headphones feature an elongated shape that disperses pressure along the outer ear and can be custom fitted instantaneously by squeeze-pumping air into each soft, silicon piece. Even the squishy cord was designed to let the user wear the phones in comfort for extended amounts of time without soreness.

COR is a product concept created to induce therapeutic hypothermia; acting as a cooling holster for a standard 1L IV saline bag. By exposing the patient to pre-hospital therapeutic hypothermia using the COR device, the patient has a greater chance of sustaining their quality of life, post-cardiac-arrest. The device also incorporates the latest nanotechnology to assist in ultra-efficient heating and cooling. Hit the jump to check out the full video description!

I’m the worst when it comes to losing the tools in my toolbox – I can never find what I need, which is exactly why I’m loving the latest design from Bolt Group. The ReadyTools series keeps all the components in the handle of the tool and a nifty pull-out tray keeps them organized and tucked safely away until the next time you need them. In regular wrench and socket wrench versions, they’re also a great way to save space or take on the move.

Non-aromatic Cooking?
I like the idea that Hong Ying Guo is exploring with the Purifi Pan. The concept is simple; eliminating annoying cooking fumes right at the source and converting it to a refreshing gust of air. The approach is to add an electronic purifying element straight on the pan’s rim and doing away with conventional hoods. Hopefully its detachable, to enable easy cleaning and as we can see it is suitable for different sized utensils, with a couple of tweaks and refinements, I think we’ll have a winner in our hands.

Cleaning Up The Seas With Drones
The city of Mumbai is situated by the Arabian Sea with the Mithi River flowing through it, experienced the worst ever flooding all thanks to the a cloud burst and clogged drains. Plastic bags that we take for granted was one of the major reasons why the drains went redundant and of course the high tide and choked riverbed didn’t help matters. Since man can’t take the onus of disposing waste responsible, let the Marine Drone do it for us.
The drone is basically an oversized pool net with a sensor fitted machine. It nets drifting plastic trash in a very innovative way. Several drones scout the seas for waste and use a special sensor to keep away fish and other aquatic animals. It is equipped with an infrasound system and the high-powered batteries allow them to stay in the water for more than 2 weeks.

Hydroponics at Home
Gardening can be a rewarding and therapeutic activity- unfortunately, many urban dwellers will never get the chance to experience it! Using current hydroponics technology, the Auxano concept was designed to enable city dwellers to grow their own produce effectively and efficiently (and without mess!) within the space constraints of city living. Its innovative oxygenating pump system means no electricity is needed for the product to operate.
The root cradle slides out of the top making the harvesting of the vegetable or herb an easy process. The roots freely hang down from the cradle into the nutrient solution below.
This bottom section unscrews revealing the nutrient reservoir. Feeding the plant from underneath the product makes the process more efficient and mess free.
The nutrient solution needs to remain oxygenated to prevent it from stagnating. Auxano’s innovative pump system sets this product out from any other hydroponic grower. The user simply pushes the underlying rubber pump a few times a day releasing bursts of oxygen into the nutrient tank above. The oxygen is pumped into the nutrient tank through a simple one way valve system. Operating the air flow manually enhances the user interaction with the product and also removes the need to introduce electricity to keep the nutrient solution aerated; in turn further enhancing the products eco-friendliness.

The AmoeBAND is a bionic concept for band aid. The design features strategic cut-outs so that you can shape it to fit fingers in such a way that it is easy to bend them and not disrupt the bandage. It even features an intelligent dressing material allows you to regularly check wounds from the outside, without upsetting the healing process. Since the bandage material used exudes a leather-like feel, availability in different skin-tones helps it blend in, without overly highlighting the injury.
As the designers explain, “According to research, the when an infection of a wound is detected, the pH value is between 6.5 and 8.5. AmoeBAND’s indicator cross turns purple, alerting the user needs to change it immediately.”
Even the packaging has been redesigned to a matchbox style and even includes Braille instructions!
AmoeBAND is a 2012 IDEA Award Finalist.

The Dipping Cover is a very clever design; who would have thought that by creating a simple indent in a lid, one can achieve such spectacular functionality! The idea behind the project is to reduce the use of the plastic cups for ketchup, which we find in most McDonalds and other fast food chains. An indent on the drink or coffee mug lid is good enough to serve as a dipping dish for the ketchup. As you can see, it’s not messy and very easy to carry even on the go. Brilliant design, if you ask me!

Wave Paint Bucket is a paint-can redesign that is done pretty impressively. What you have is a lid that is fashioned with a wave and the paint tin that features a groove around the rim. It’s been done before, but this is a refined version. Essentially, the groove kinda doubles up as a funnel to pour out the paint, the lid doubles up as a palette and the functional style of opening the can makes the whole user experience a lot better! Super!

eSSage is a massage suit that makes it possible to receive a massage from a trained specialist or even a loved one no matter the distance. The suit connects through WiFi and uses an Apple/Android app that lets the person on the other end use a stylus to control the suit’s electro-active polymer nodes that change shape when hit with an electrical charge. Create a custom massage of your own or let the “masseur” work out those knots!

These days, very few people have the outdoor space to garden and grow their own herbs for cooking. The sleek BB Little Garden was designed with urban dwellers in mind and makes it possible to have fresh herbs all year round. Aesthetically and functionally, it’s more like a modern a appliance and will blend in perfectly in any kitchen.

yclists can do with as much illumination help that they can get from getting accidentally hit at night. Akin to the Light Lane, the Arrow Zone performs a similar function of warning oncoming and follow-up traffic of your bicycle presence. However this sleek attachment hooks to the side and projects a distinctive arrow to the lane to the side of your cycle. It’s a detachable unit thus you can hook it to either side of the bike, depending upon which side of the road you drive. Nice concept and with a few tweaks it can go to become a real good product.
