SOLAQUA : Water Disinfection Unit To Be Used in Rural Sub-Saharan Africa
SOLAQUA is a useful device, going to be used as a water disinfection unit in the rural areas of Sub-Saharan Africa. As per the design, this device will obtain infra-red and ultra-violet rays from the sun and will utilize them to eliminate pathogens of contaminated water. Unrefined water will initially pass through a filter of sari cloth to improve the effectiveness of solar water disinfection. A funnel of five taps fills five different bottles to acquire 10 liters of water. Then these transparent bottles are scattered on the ground to get maximum exposure to ultra-violet rays. The black rear surface of these bottles soaks up heat and the reflective inner surfaces imitate ultra-violate rays within the water.

ReWalk exoskeleton is trying to make that dream come true, paraplegics will be able to stand, walk, even climb the stairs The challenge here is to design something that imitates a human walking, including universal fit for a broad range of user height and weight measurements, as well as a low profile that is both contemporary and user friendly. ReWalk exoskeleton is a light, wearable brace support suit featuring DC motors at the joints, rechargeable batteries, an array of sensors, and a computer-based control system. Users wear a backpack device and braces on their legs, and select the activity they want from a remote control. A sensor on the chest determines the torso’s angle and guides the legs to move forward or backward to maintain balance. You can expect to see ReWalk Exoskeleton on sale in 2009.

Solar Powered Wind Turbine With A New Set Of Spinning Solar Blades
Scientists from the University of Liverpool have upgraded an everyday wind turbine with innovative set of spinning solar blades. The entire team, led by Dr. Joe King, unveiled an innovative solution to perplex critics who state wind turbines are useful only while the wind is blowing. Well, their design even doubles the functionality of conventional turbines by integrating photovoltaic technology. The team however faced some problems. There was a real anxiety that the turbines could blind aircraft pilots and anyone living in the vicinity. Besides this, on hot days, the turbines would create lethal solar rays, which could set buildings on fire if concentrated. In order to cope up with such issues, scientists invented a tinted solar panel that does not mirror sunbeams. The team is now resolving on where to install their model solar wind turbine. “We are confident that we could transform the world’s vital renewable energy needs”, said Dr. King.

FLOWLIGHT Street Lamp Is Powered By Waves
Tidal power is considered to be the storehouses of energy, having a great potential to provide electricity for future generation. Keeping this in mind, Irish designer Shane Molloy unveiled a sustainable lighting system. This system makes use of the flow of tidal river, converting it into electricity. This in turn illuminates the quayside of River Suir with renewable energy. The Flowlight features an outer shell of carbon fiber and water turbine blades, protected by Sub-floatation housing unit in order to shield the blades from rock-strewn river bed. Designed to operate clockwise and anti-clockwise direction with the river’s flow, the water turbine blades generates power during high and low tide. This concept severs as an excellent way to illuminate LED strip lighting the moment daylight fades away.

SOLARIS is a sun shading system which uses solar energy to create new work and leisure spaces. It allows you to work/study in outdoor places such as cafés, parks, and beaches by creating a shaded area and providing a power source for electronic devices. SOLARIS aims to promote new experiences and habits for a more sustainable and socially inclusive city landscape.
SOLARIS has 6 “wings”, each with two photovoltaic panels, which revolve around a central column for easy stowing. When opened, the wings work as a sunshade, with photovoltaic cells that charge a set of batteries in the base. In the central column there is a LED display power indicator. Three electrical sockets are available in the base, for charging portable computers, cell phones or any kind of electronic devices. A silicone shock absorbing colored strip at the base protects the structure and creates an electrical neutral area with a handle for transportation.

KinetiCompost Makes Eco-Friendly Compost Faster and Easier Than Ever
The only reason farmers are reluctant to use natural composts is the lengthy process, even though they are far less expensive than chemical fertilizers and are eco-friendly too. KinetiCompost gives the solution of creating nutrient-rich compost in a faster and eco-friendly way by utilizing the nature itself. The concept comprises a rotomolded barrel where the compostable materials are placed and with the help of a gearbox that turns the barrel once with 200 rotation of the windmill, composts can be created 10x faster than the traditional method. The steel and 100% recycled plastic construction makes it durable and at the same time don’t make any harm to the environment.

The solar rucksack is an innovative backpack concept that has been designed to keep the bodily warmth of users in icy conditions, especially for those who love to climb on mountains peaks or treks or works in polar states. The outer surface of the backpack features solar panels that collect solar energy from the sun and converts it to thermal energy. To distribute the generated heat evenly to the user’s body, a circular patch has been utilized on the clothing that remains attached with the backpack via a connecting pipe. Aside from its ultimate functionality, the stylish design of the backpack aims to enhance the user’s aesthetic than other usual backpacks.

The Agro E.Sustentable concept wind generator aims to ease and optimize the installation and transportation procedure, making it convenient and time-saving for the agricultural workers. The generator has been designed as a great system of producing and accumulating of wind energy that distinctively makes it self-supporting. The trailer holds the batteries and the generator along with its retractable tower and also acts as the base when it is working. The tower remains folded in 4 sections and is raised through a chain pulley system that can automatically raise the 3 parts after lifting the first section manually. The blades of the generator have been designed to be folded when not in use, which allows minimizing the storage space. The linking elements are relatively simple and are large parts that ensure durability and provide confidence to the operator.

The Eolic is an easily foldable wind-powered generator concept that has been designed to use in rural areas where no electricity supply is available. Also, the generator can be used as an alternative power source in small housings with its easy to store equipments in one package. Eolic has been crafted from lightweight materials like carbon fiber and aluminum with a telescopic pole that can be easily mounted to reach the functional height by following simple steps with the help of two or three men.
