Wind Energy Watch
This interactive watch by Julien Moise uses the wearer’s own renewable wind energy to power it’s icy blue display. To read the time the user simply blows on the propeller mechanism to generate just enough electricity to activate a short visual sequence. You might get some strange looks blowing on your wrist, but this watch’s cool minimal style totally makes up for it.

LEGO Audio Comic
The concept designed by Jonathan Robson is based on a LEGO helmet with a gold space visor. The helmet acts as a headset for listening to the audio for LEGO comics as well as a role-playing toy. Once subscribed to Audio Comic, you’ll receive the LEGO comic through the post with your activation code to download the audio onto a USB brick. Simply slot the brick into the back of the helmet, put it on and enjoy the exciting LEGO Audio comic experience!
As a child, designer Jonathan Robson subscribed to the LEGO Club and received the LEGO magazine through his door containing puzzles, competitions and comics. He explains:
“When I was young I played with LEGO a lot and all I used to read was the comics in LEGO magazines, I’d like to give something back to them as they helped me learn to read.”

Redesign the Kitchen Knife
Designer Jongwoo Choi believes traditional knives are not suitable for elderly because the center of mass is located at the rear when people push down. His solution – the Swing Capsule kitchen knife. The handle can rotate up and over the blade creating a more centered balance while keeping your fingers safely away.

Never Too Old for a Computer
There’s this perception that the silver generation gets intimidated by technology and can find it difficult to get savvy with gadgets. Four of my family members…all above 65 years and only one of them is comfortable with computers. So maybe the perception is true, and this is why designers like
Ryan Klinger are spending hours on designing a laptop especially for them. Personal Computing for Older Adults can be a solution, and it has my support!

The Life is a recycled paper-made water container designed for Milano Expo 2015. The idea is to dissuade people from using plastic bottles and use this one-day-use bottle instead. It’s crafted from natural cotton and recycled paper layer and it doesn’t use any chemical ink or adhesives that are tough to recycle. The handy green cord makes it easy for you to carry it along. Oh, and the proposal does include having water fountains around the expo area so that you can refill it several times during the day.

The Thorough Guide
E-Stick is a unique guide stick for the sight impaired. It has a touch sensitive and interactive system to make commuting easy and comfortable. It features an SD-Card slot from where in one can load maps to the stick. Basically it beams out guided turn-by-turn directions for the user via an earpiece that hooks up wirelessly, I’m assuming its Bluetooth enabled. So once the map is loaded and the destination keyed in, you just follow the guided instructions, so simple!
E-Touch is a Lotus Prize winning entry.

Tea Easy
Love me a good cup of tea but when you’re own the go and need something quick, but still fresh, investing in something like the T-EASY can be a Godsend. No, not the rapture kind but still glorious (I’m still alive). It has an 8 cup capacity, demarcated so you’ll know how many tea leaves to uses per cup of water. The only flaw I see is not all teas will fit within that 1:1 ratio. For example, floral teas are very light, therefor needing more leaves/flowers per cup for water.
The product is made out of a unibody piece which is first cut from chrome stainless sheet metal and then bent. Therefore it does not need an extra process for assembly. For the transparent container, polypropylene (PP) is used, while again PP is used for the remaining plastic parts. All plastic parts are produced with injection moulding.

Computer All Rolled Up
A day will come when computers can be rolled up like newspapers, and concepts like Roll Me will make complete sense. Here’s why, it features e-paper nanotechnology roll-able display, making it light and portable. With minimal components and built-in cooling systems, the computer is highly ergonomic and intuitive. To “round” it off, it’s powered by SolarRoll – a flexible solar panel that can be stowed within the hollow shaft of the computer.

Better Than Fireflies in a Bottle
I remember camping trips where we would carry an extra jar, just to catch fireflies and make glow-in-the-dark lamps. The Bottle Lantern looks something like that. It’s a standard wide-mouth water bottle with four bright LEDs in the lid that are powered by placing your finger in the carrying hook and turning. Thirty seconds of spinning equates to about four minutes of light.

Infant Incubator
Baby NEST I-plus, a full feature incubator, provides the ideal environment for neonatal/premature infants. Baby NEST I-plus is an enclosed neonatal intensive care microenvironment developed to meet the needs of both clinicians and patients. Several unique features provide a superior developmentally appropriate environment for the patient, while simplifying procedures for the clinician. With pioneering new technologies for newborns and their caregivers, it simplifies equipment ergonomics to support nursing care.
Baby NEST I-plus is the first incubator that can be converted to an open bed with warmer and phototherapy unit still installed. A Therapy module can be rotated 90 degrees on both sides. A Hood unit can be opened to allow two clinicians to care for the infant simultaneously while the baby remains in the incubator, reducing handling and adverse stimulation. The Hood unit can also be tilted partially in safety. Twin mattress and large canopy is suitable for tracing and treatment of premature and light weight babies in ICU. Rotating mattress with Trendelenburg mechanism minimizes unnecessary baby stimulation, rotates 360 degrees to allow proper positioning for all types of procedures without disturbing the infant. The device offers a broad adjustable range for various procedures and family interaction. There’s also a large 8.4″ LED display with pertinent oxygen, humidity, air temperature, body and skin temperature stats.
