Iranian cartoonist Ali Shabani receives first prize at the 9th Tabriz International Cartoon Festival followed by winners from Bulgaria and Turkey.
Shabani was followed by Bulgaria's Valentin Grorgien and Turkey's Omer Cam. Their cartoons were selected from among the 1,021 works submitted.
Some 340 cartoonists from 37 countries submitted their work on the theme 'Correction of Consumption Patterns', a number of which were selected by the jury to be displayed at a week-long exhibition at the Tabriz Cartoon Museum.
Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cuba, Egypt, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, and Bosnia are among the countries participating in the exhibition.
Oleg Goutsol from Belarus, Metin Peker from Turkey, Shahrokh Heidari and Sadeq Baqeri from Iran served on the Festival's jury.
