The W114/W115 (the W114 was a six-cylinder model, the W115 had fours) was a wholly new midsize Mercedes expanded to include models with four-, five- and six-cylinder engines. In fact, there were times during the model's life that up to 15 separate models existed inside the midsize Mercedes family, including a two-door variant. The "Stroke-8" name arose when it was necessary to distinguish the new car from the old Fintail that continued in production during 1968 and carried the same model names. During '68, a 200D was likely a Fintail, while a 200D/8 was definitely a W115. Even after the Fintail was gone, that Stroke-8 heritage persisted in the informal world of nicknames.

A lower hood line led to a wider, lower grille shell on the Stroke-8 models, while thinner pillars and a two-inch longer wheelbase than the Fintail gave the cabin an open, airy feel. But despite the wheelbase stretch, the Stroke-8's 184.5-inch overall length was actually two inches shorter than the car it replaced. Further, thanks to a robust unibody structure and new safety equipment like a padded dash, the Stroke-8 weighed in about 300 pounds heavier than its predecessor.

The base four over here grew to 2.2 liters and output swelled to 116 horsepower and, naturally, the car was named the 220. The 230 continued with the 2.3-liter six, but output had by now grown to 135 horsepower. A new 2.5-liter version of the six appeared in (there's a pattern here) a new 250 sedan as well and that engine produced 146 horsepower

W114/w115( دبلیو 114 ،6 سیلندره و دبلیو 115 ،4 سیلندره بود) یک مدل مرسدس متوسط جدیدی بود که به مدلهایی با موتور4 ،5و 6 سیلندره نیز گسترش و پیشرفت نمود. در طول حیات این مدل، 15 مدل جداگانه و مستقل دیگر از جمله نمونه ی دو درب، در خانواده ی سایز متوسط ، مرسدس به وجود آمدند. نام استوک-8 به دلیل اینکه وجه تمایزی باشد مابین این مدل جدید از مرسدس ومدل قدیمی fintail که تولیدش در سال 1968 هنوز ادامه داشت و از نظر نام مدل مشابهت داشتند ،برگزیده شد.

بر خلاف نام گذاریهای قبلی 250سی به این معنی نبود که 2.5 لیتر حجم موتور و 6 سیلندره میباشد بلکه 2.8 لیتر حجم موتورش بود و (6 سرنشینه یا 6 سیلندره بود؟؟؟؟؟؟!!!!!) و توان 157 اسب بخار را داشت.

صندلی دارای فاصله های یکسان و یک اندازه ای ( برحسب اینچ ) از صندلی های جلو بودند اما به طور کلی 2 اینچ از ارتفاع آن کاسته شده بود . در حالی که آنرا c250 نامیده بودند این خودرو دارای موتور 2.5 لیتری نبود . بعد ها نسخه 2.8 لیتری شش سرنشین با 157 اسب بخار نیز تولید شد و دارای 250 سدان بود با موتور 2.8 لیتری .

چرا فکر میکنید منظورش 6 سرنشینه هست؟همونطور که خودتون ترجمه کردید این خودرو کوپه هست.یعنی 4 نفر هم به زور میشینن داخلش.مشکل زیر سر این کلمه aboard هست.
نظرتون چیه؟من فکر میکنم معنیش اینجا in باشه.
یعنی در این موتور 157 اسب بخار نیرو تولید میشه
